Many people who contact me because they did not succeed in Orpington to find, even using The Orpingtonbreederslist (available through breeders@orpingtonclub.com ) find it very strange when I take them to www.marktplaats.nl referral for current offers. They often say that they just want chickens from a club member. I explain that everyone can sign on as a member of our club. However, this does absolutely tell us nothing further about how he is involved with his chicks. That someone is a member of the club, does not mean that he is also good with handling animals or healthy animals breeding.
Bread Breeders
In practice it is so that breeders often labeled as ‘bread breeders’ right are the ones who have a wide range. Often people want to contact me, do not buy animals of that ‘bread breeders. They just want chickens / animals of the small farmers who are having tame animals. But let’s stay realistic; people who are having/ making tame chicks are the very people who very occasionally breed a couple of chicks! These are usually already lost their chickens before they hatch!

I myself are breeding almost the whole year! I am very focused with my animals. Still, there are always very few animals that I sell. I would like to illustrate this so you understand how it works because Orpington really are no ready-made products you can stock !
Example, in May looking for someone 6 lavender hens. How easy or difficult is to come?
I breed lavender Orpington by splitting of pearl gray with each other crosses. There are 100 chicks (not on one day, but spread over several weeks). 50 will already rooster (sometimes it falls, sometimes it is against). That leaves only about 50 hens. This is not directly observed, animals must really be a few weeks old before it is visible. But even assuming that 50% cock, of which 50 hens are only about 15 pearl gray and the other 35 are black, blue or a different color.
The 35 chicks that are not lavender, its what I look like, and I really want to keep and which are possibly good friend of fellow breeders and then they go there. The animals that other fellow breeders can not use or do I not good enough to breed, I also put for sale on the 15 www.marktplaats.nl lavender I keep for breeding. Over time I start again from the fifteen 5 to select. 5 screening that I go to another friend-raiser who also works hard to get the color to breed. Animals I do not think good enough to breed, I put for sale on www.marktplaats.nl! That is only a handful and they are within 10 minutes after placing images to sell.
And do not forget that 100 chicks (50 cock also which are) a lot of time and money and effort to take care of it. You really have a good system to have these chicks to house them in a healthy way to grow and develop.
Sometimes it frustrates me greatly when people just set-and-jump Orpington want and then they still require to make as, “I want six hens to lay his, two blue, two black and two pearl gray, like in a radius of 30 km. And if no one can find animals they have, they are again deeply disappointed too!
I hope someone who is looking Orpington, after reading this article will better understand how it works and a little more patience will bring about or what has come to Orpington (greater distance) and less stringent requirements will up!
But if you want an easy chicken that requires little care and always available, you can always buy frozen chicken (just kidding)!
